We've to rise above. Go beyond. Become more.
This deck uses Erland in round 1 to boost all units in deck, then uses thinning cards to play as many units as possible to harvest the boost. The deck thins to 2 cards, and has some insanely powerful plays.
This deck plays no engines at all, controversially. Instead, it generates value over time by playing cards that scale with the length of the round (Lyrian Scytheman, Temerian Infantry and Griffin Witcher Ranger). The reason for this is that the deck runs disloyal Vernon Roche. With no engines in deck you are free to play him towards the end of the round without losing engine value.
This deck's gameplan is to line as many boosted units on a row as possible. This is almost always the ranged row because several of the cards have Formation, and you want to make use of the ranged-row buff. Prince Anseis and Bloody Baron are the exceptions, most often they will be played melee to get the zeal.
It's imperative to play Erland round 1. I added Geralt Quen as well as Oneiromancy to make the chances of drawing him as high as possible. Quen's backup pull is Griffin Ranger, a card I absolutely love and one that has been unfairly overlooked since his release. It's super satisfying to slam a 12 for 5 against swarm decks. The synergy with Roche is nice too.
Maxii is pretty nifty for this deck because you can use her to see what Roche and Dandelion are going to pull.
Temerian Infantry counts itself if it is already boosted, making it a 5 for 5 at least. This means you want to kick it from your round 1 hand to get more value from Erland.
I reached 2431 MMR after 25 games on pro rank, about half of which were me tinkering and tailoring the decklist. I certainly would have scored higher if I had the final decklist from the start. The deck has points!
I'm certain this deck can be improved, for example I was running Falibor instead of Dandelion Poet, and Heatwave instead of Anseis. But I felt if I was to present the deck I was to present it in an extreme form. Where better to play disloyal Roche and Dandelion Poet?
In an ideal world this would be a Meve deck. But because she'd be the only lock target in the deck she would never ever go off. Sadge.
This deck is a fun and refreshing alternative to Witcher Uprising. It isn't Tier 1, but it has the points to compete with many good decks.
About me: I am a pro rank player, having played the game since early 2019. I like to build innovative off-meta decks while remaining as competitive as possible. I'm pleased to see so many of you enjoyed my Lippy Pirates and Radeyah/Eist decks. If you like this one please give it an upvote!
