In December 2024 Gwent meta classical Assimilate may struggle because of Patricidal Fury Warriors being a dominant deck, capable of removing Assimilate engines with a trade up, while leaving too few good bronzes to copy.
Nevertheless some cards used in Assimilate have formidable ceiling and so is Double Cross leader ability which can play for 20+ points when Fucusya is found. Combining Double Cross and Artaud we put Warriors in a classical deadlock: if they keep Fucusya in hand we get a great leader; if they deploy Fucusya early we get great Artaud and Coup.
Another staple meta deck right now is Tactical Decision Renfri with Witchers Trio and Triss Meteor Showers. Triss is subjected to same deadlock as Fucusya.
When playing this deck don't be afraid to mulligan out your golds in Round 1, but for Joachim. Your R1 gameplay is usually trying to win with Magne + Slave Drivers into Tactics and False Ciri. Golds and Sergeants make this plan harder.
I had unbeaten run to 2510 fMMR on stream with this deck; it doesn't mean the deck is perfect, but for sure mentioned powerhorses work.
